French version below Hello! My name is Léon, I am a 24-year-old (although my birthday is very soon so if you are fast enough, we will get to celebrate it together!) psychology student from Heidelberg, Germany. From September until August ‘23 I am finishing up my master’s degree in clinical psychology at Université de Montréal. To be able to come to Montréal is very exciting for me, since I wanted to do a semester abroad for a very long time. I kind of fell in love with the thought of living in Montréal after hearing stories of a friend of mine who lived there for two years. In my free time, I like skating (Skateboard), bouldering, reading, and listening to music. One of my favourite bands actually is from Montréal: Half Moon Run. Apart from Indie, I like Hip Hop of all kinds of languages and subgenres, Classic Rock, Jazz, and I spent quite some time listening to Frank Ocean. My music taste has grown in all sorts of directions over the years, I would love to be influenced by my new roommates. I also like making music very much, although I haven’t reached a professional level yet (this kind of sounds like I would be close to this achievement, which I am really not, believe me). I learned to play the drums as a kid but won’t be able to take them to Canada (duh), which is a shame. Also, I have already come to terms with the fact that I won’t be able to skate much over the winter, but maybe I finally get the chance to pick up a snowboard (I always wanted to try that). Another passion of mine is mixing (and of course, drinking) drinks, which I got into during the pandemic. For my current flatmates I regularly mix my favourite cocktails, or we try new ones together. I would love to build a home bar and continue this tradition with you in Canada. For University, I only must attend two seminars and finish up my thesis, so I will have enough time to do all kinds of interesting stuff (recommendations welcome). Since I played field hockey in my youth and at least can drive a straight line on ice-skates, I want to try to play ice hockey very bad (meaning I want to try it very much, lol) Politically, I would describe myself as left-wing, so I am very interested in anti-fascism, Marxism, Feminism, and climate activism. I am a very social and open person and have lived in shared flats in Berlin and Heidelberg for the last 3 Years. If you want, I can send some testimonials from my roommates confirming what a great guy I am. My French is pretty okay, and my goal is to speak it a lot during my stay in Canada, but if all fails, I am very comfortable and fluent in English as well. Lena (20), who is the other student from Heidelberg being chosen for the exchange program in Montreal, is looking for a room, too. If you by chance happen to have two free rooms, we would love to move in together. She is studying economics and a very cool person as well.

Salut! Je m’appelle Léon, j’ai 24 ans (bien que mon anniversaire arrive très tôt, donc si vous êtes rapide avec votre décision, nous pouvons le fêter ensemble !) et je suis un étudiant de psychologie venant de Heidelberg, Allemagne. De septembre à avril, je vais terminer mon diplôme de master en psychologie clinique à l’Université de Montréal. Je suis très heureux d’avoir la possibilité d’aller à Montréal, parce que je voulais faire un semestre à l’étranger il y a très longtemps et parce qu’un ami, qui a vécu à Montréal pour deux ans, m’a raconté beaucoup des choses positives concernant la ville et ces habitants. Pendant mon temps libre, j’aime faire du skate, de l’escalade de bloc, je m’intéresse à la littérature et la musique. Un de mes groupes préférés viens de Montréal : Half Moon Run. À part rock indépendant, j’aime bien Hip Hop (c’est mon genre préféré), rock classique, jazz, et j’adore Frank Ocean. Mes copains et cohabitants ont eu beaucoup d’influence sur mon gout de musique et je voudrais bien vous rencontrer mieux en écoutant votre artiste préféré. En plus, je sais jouer de la batterie, mais je ne vais pas avoir la possibilité d’apporter ma batterie par avion… Je suis presque sûr que, avec tout le neige, je vais avoir peu de possibilité de faire du skate, mais je veux bien essayer de faire du snowboard depuis que j’étais un enfant. Un autre hobby que j’ai découvert pendant la pandémie est mélanger (et puis boire, naturellement) les cocktails. Au présent, je mélange mes cocktails préférés pour mes copains et mes cohabitants régulièrement, ou bien on essaye des drinks nouveaux ensemble. En Canada, je voudrais bien continuer cette tradition et construire un nouveau bar privé chez nous. Comme ado, j’ai joué au hockey sur gazon, c’est la raison pour laquelle je m’imagine à essayer le hockey sur glace. Concernant la politique, je me comprends comme gauchiste, donc je m’intéresse beaucoup à l’antifascisme, marxisme, féminisme et la protection de l’environnement. Je suis une personne très ouverte et social, j’ai habité dans les colocations à Berlin et Heidelberg pendant les dernières trois années. Si vous voulez, je peux vous envoyer des lettres de recommandations de mes cohabitants. Vous pouvez juger mon Français vous-même, heureusement je suis à l’aise et fluent en Anglais. Lena (20), l’autre étudiante de Heidelberg choisi pour l’échange, cherche une chambre, aussi, donc si vous (par coïncidence) louez deux chambres, nous pouvons emménager ensemble. Elle fait des études en économiques et elle est une personne très cool elle-même.
