Nicole

My name is Nicole. I am a keen naturalist and birder with a quiet and friendly demeanour, and I happily spend as much time as possible outdoors in pursuit of birds and adventure - hiking, climbing, getting lost, etc. When I’m not outside, I enjoy curling up with a book, making cookies just to eat half the dough or messing around with yarn pretending that I can knit. I am from Brantford, Ontario and graduated from Nipissing University with a BSc in biology with a minor in geography, though all along my career has been my passion – the study and appreciation of birds. This has turned into an exciting career, and I’ve been lucky enough to have travelled and worked in many countries and lived with a great variety of wonderful people!

I blend in to just about any setting and can get along great with just about anybody. I’m very helpful and clean and I treat the space I’m living in with the utmost respect. I’m adaptable and am just as content with a more reserved, ‘come and go, keep to myself’ kind of atmosphere as I am with a more communal ‘let’s do dinner together and watch a movie’ kind of time.

I’ve just taken a seasonal job at the southern tip of Vancouver Island and so I need a place to stay in or between Saseenos and Metchosin (or as far as Colwood or Langford) for just under three months, between the middle of August and the end of October. I am looking for a simple, clean, furnished bedroom (though all I actually need is a bed in there!). I’m happy to share living spaces such as a bathroom and kitchen, and have clean and conscious habits to greatly reduce risks associated with the virus that we all know and do not love. I do require a parking space, as I have a small car. Internet access is quite important, but not a deal-breaker.

Most important to note is that as I will be working with owls, much of my time away for work will be during the night. While I will be coming and going during normal waking hours, a relatively quiet atmosphere is necessary so that I am able to sleep during the afternoon!
