A big, beautiful house in the Chase River area – the owner is my best friend, who is not ready to relocate from the mainland for at least a year and possibly longer.

This is one of two rooms other than my own, but is more like a pseudo self-contained basement suite, with cosy bedroom and a separate large lounge room with gas fireplace and bar (can be set up as a partial kitchenette) hence the higher price. For more ambitious cooking, you will have access to the upstairs kitchen and the BBQ with a bit of notice. There’s a bathroom downstairs that would be primarily for your use but available to housemates (likewise if you fancy the occasional bath you can use the upstairs) when the need arises. There is a lot of space to spread out, and this would be an ideal place for people who love gardens and birdwatching. The bedrooms are unfurnished and there is room for (clean, bug-free!) furniture in the sitting rooms, but the owners are interested in selecting some furnishings for the common areas. In addition to the bedrooms, there are several “open use” rooms that aren’t fully-finished that could be used for crafts, a gym, yoga, etc.

I’m a 35 year old queer woman finishing up a Masters degree in scriptwriting, though I usually work a day job in administration. I’m recently separated and looking to spend this transitional time (to say nothing of the uncertainty of pandemic developments!) in a natural setting with kind, considerate, like-minded people. I love to cook, garden, and stare at the hummingbirds that swarm the feeders at the house. I tend to have a pretty quiet lifestyle, but I’m a frequent cannabis user, so it may not be the best place for young kids. But if you’re someone with part-time custody of an older kid that might work out alright!
