About the room

  • First and foremost, this is a long-term SUBLET that goes from April 2021 to April 2022
  • The apartment is located in the Mile End, a central neighbourhood for the cultural life of the city. It is filled with restaurants, cafes, supermarkets at a 10min walking distance (Supermarché Mile End, PA), and a family-run fruitery/dep about a 3 minute walk.
  • The place is queer-friendly. We are looking for someone who enjoys interacting with the people they’re living with and being part of the life of the house. Of course, we all have introverted moments, but we wish to go beyond transactional interactions and have a sense of caring and understanding towards each other.
  • The place itself is very cosy, it is a 2nd floor apartment. It feels like a rustic cabin in the woods and its distribution is quite special. We want someone who is keen on adding their personal touch to the place.
  • Animals: There is one cat who has been living here for a long time who belongs to no one. It is the responsibility of every roommate to take care of him (food and litter). Unfortunately Charlie is not very social with other animals, so we cannot accept other pets in the house.
  • Other details: The available room has a balcony that gives to the street. It is a prime spot in the spring/summer.

About the roomies

As roommates, Ra (25) and I (27) are people who enjoy using the common spaces for creative endeavours. We generally each do our own thing and have out own projects, but always find some time to discuss how we’ve been. Ra really enjoys cooking, painting, reading, taking care of her plants and being outside, amongst other things. I enjoy writing, researching different topics, the outdoors, bouldering biking everywhere, and learning new skills/arts.

We like to resolve conflict in a straightforward, communicative way, so we do not hesitate to call roommate meetings if something is bothering us. We do these with the underlying principle that the building of a safe home is a continuous process, an ongoing conversation. We are looking for someone who understands this and who is able to communicate their needs and feelings without taking things personally.
