Clinton Place

The room: A bright, airy room with 10-foot ceilings and lots of natural light. Hardwood floors and a north-facing exposure are bonuses. It comfortably holds a queen-sized bed, desk, dresser, shelves, clothing rack and anything else you’d need — some of which can be left behind for a bit more cash (see “Extras”). Blackout curtains already installed! Approx. room dimensions: 12’ x 8’.

The house: Our place is the full top floor of a lovely heritage house. The apartment is more than 900 square feet including the balconies: four bedrooms, one bathroom with tub/shower combo, one spacious kitchen with every appliance you could imagine, one living room with a pullout couch and flat-screen TV, and two large balconies — one out front with a nice seating area, and one in the back with a BBQ. Fast Wi-Fi if you work from home, cold A/C in the summer, toasty heat in the winter.

The rent: $817.60 monthly, including all utilities except hydro and internet, which are usually an additional $60-70 a month combined. First and last months’ rent due prior to occupancy, starting May 1. Length of tenancy flexible but at least through August 31; longer preferred!

The neighbourhood: Set back on Clinton Place, a quiet side street just behind Bloor, you have easy access to all the great amenities nearby without any of the crowding or noise. Christie Pits and Bickford Park are literally right around the corner, as are Tim Hortons, Subway and multiple other restaurants. Easy access to U of T, Koreatown, Little Italy and more! Metro, Shoppers, the P.A.T. Korean supermarket and cheap laundromats are all within walking distance.

The transport: The home is just a couple of minutes away from Christie station on Line 2, providing easy subway access to the rest of the city (downtown in 15 minutes), and is also situated between the 511 Bathurst streetcar and 63 Ossington bus. There’s bike parking beside the home and the neighbourhood has ample street parking available with a permit.

Extras: The room can come partially furnished with a desk, office chair, Ikea dresser, shelving unit, stand-up fan and clothing rack for an extra fee if you’re interested in purchasing any of those items. Discount if taken as a lot!

The roommates: Laid back, respectful, clean and outgoing. The other three are currently two guys (current students), and one girl (recent graduate). The home is 420 friendly but if you’re going to smoke anything, please do so on one of the balconies, or at least crack a window.
