Kosta's room

Because my current roommate needs to move out, we’re looking for someone to take over their half of the lease; this means you’d be coming on to an existing lease that ends on September 30th, 2022 (could probably be extended, but I’m personally unsure of what I’ll be doing at that point). Move-in date is flexible, but ideally ASAP.

COSTS: Rent is $1000/mo and includes all utilities (water, heat, air) except hydro (which isn’t too bad, usually). I do have an existing (fast) internet package that I’d ask any potential roommates to come onto with me 50/50, which would be an additional $35/mo. Tenant insurance is already paid for :)

ROOM/UNIT STUFF: The available room is a 9x9 square adjacent to the kitchen, and has a large 8x2 closet across the back wall. The room is private and enclosed, though it has an odd glass wall on one side; I’ve installed a curtain rod to block the glass so it isn’t a super big issue when using an opaque curtain, and my roommate and I haven’t had any issues. There are two full bathrooms in the unit, both of similar size and layout, so you’ll have your own bathroom, which is adjacent to the available room. The unit has a sizeable common area, a little den in which we put a dining table, and a sort of small kitchen with ample cabinet space. Washer and dryer are in-unit near the entrance. There’s a small balcony at the end of the common area, and the unit is on the 3rd floor. The available room is also furnished, and my current roommate is willing to sell the furniture in the room to whoever ends up moving in (minus the rug) if desired, but otherwise will take it and the room will start unfurnished. Furniture in the common areas pictured is subject to change, as some of it belongs to my roommate and I’m unsure whether or not I’ll purchase some of it from them. The bedroom/bathroom pictures in the listing are of the available bedroom and the bathroom paired with it; my room and bathroom aren’t pictured.

BUILDING/LOCATION: Reasonably nice apartment building in the West Queen neighbourhood. Typical fob entry. Has a small exercise room with some machines and weights, a theatre room, and a game room. Building is located two minutes from Queen street and about five from King (on foot). Neighbourhood is pretty active, and loaded with bars/restaurants/etc. Nearest grocery store is a 5-minute walk away. The building doesn’t allow smoking of any kind in the unit, but there is a balcony as abovementioned. I believe parking is available, but it’d be extra.

I’m Kosta. I’m 25 and work freelance as a journal editor. I tend to stay up very late, usually well into ‘morning’ hours, and will often be talking to friends on Discord (albeit not so loudly that it’d prevent you from sleeping – the rooms are pretty far apart, in any case). I spend most of my free time (PC) gaming, and I’m also into tabletop (primarily MTG). I’m not a partier, and I’d prefer a roommate who’s similar in that regard. At most, I’ll have a few friends over and play games or something. I also have an adorable eight-month-old kitten named Ares who’s a little sweetheart, if a bit energetic. I’m open to living with basically whoever, though I prefer someone around my age and with whom I at least get along. I’m LGBT and partnered, which I mention because it’s 100% necessary the space be LGBT friendly.
