The home: Our light-filled home has plenty of space for delightful and mature housemates. The space is new so we can’t tell you everything that is included, but we plan to have space for working/exercising/gardening/hanging and occasional (likely 2/week) shared meals. There is a street-level porch, a second-floor balcony, a large deck in the back, and big bay windows on each floor.

Food & Utilities: We plan to include all utilities with the rent along with a shared food plan. We are very open to opinions on what is included in our communal food plan, but so far we are looking at an extensive pantry with various grains, legumes, teas, and other dried goods, along with plenty of produce. We will probably limit non-vegan and pre-prepared items to special occasions unless we can fit less expensive staples into the budget. That being said, we generally have a healthy, plant-based, and non-processed diet at home and we are hoping to find people who are interested in the same.

Community: We are not necessarily looking to be besties with everyone that comes through, but let’s face it, one thing this past year taught us is the importance of cultivating community particularly pertaining to the people closest to you in your home. We hope that everyone gets along but we are no WeLive, or google tech campus, we aren’t looking for you to spend all your time here but we do hope to make the time you do spend here great!

You: We are inclusive and hoping to find awesome and diverse folks of every race/class/gender/sexuality, etc… We do think that our home is most appropriate for people who have lived on their own for a time, are at least in their mid-twenties, respectful, able to pay rent on time, and capable of cleaning up after themselves.

The 3Ps (pets, partners, parking): We would love to hear about your pets and partners! We may not have the space for all of them but well-behaved pets and secure relationships are welcome as long as our home can accommodate them. Parking will likely be a little tough, but it is Ottawa so it is never impossible. There are permit spaces nearby and many monthly garages within a two-block radius. We are also a few blocks away from the O train Lyon Station and a number of long bike paths that wind through the city.
