I am a candidate for a 2 bedroom 799 sq ft Artscape apartment on Queen in Parkdale. I’m going to apply in hopes I will be offered it for May 1. Splitting $1645.mo + Hydro so only $800-$900. a month which is a great deal by Toronto standards in this type of building. There are two bedrooms one slightly larger with high ceilings on the main floor. The rest is a large open concept kitchen/dining / living room space which I would like to propose as shared studio space or perhaps one that could be subdivided. Lots of light with all the basics. There is also storage and a garden space just behind the community Gallery. All the neighbours are artists. The person would need to meet Artscape’s qualifications of “artist” or “arts professional” whatever that means. This came along as a surprise and I was not planning on this, but am going ahead with this application! One door closes and another opens?

I am 56yo, a long term working professional in arts and social services, with interests in scholarly, film, video, animation, puppetry, drawing and painting and building online businesses. Looking for low key, high levels of quiet and privacy. Due to health, I require low or no scented products and low noise levels. Friendly and respectful, reliable and good natured as a roommate. I am clean, (not always neat) and am a good cook. I prefer mature low key male roommate, but open to discuss, especially for short term availability and artist criteria. Keeping it flexible, open to anyone with compatible personality. I am basically gone all weekend at work so you get quiet weekends in the space to yourself! Opposite schedules would be ideal. Im at home during the week, require lots of rest and alone time but I also like to make a congenial home space and enjoy sharing the occasional meal. Flexible as far as length, but prefer 3-6 month stay at least. I put this up quickly. I will try to add details as I think of them! I have found a way to upload the floor plan and photos. they show the the incomplete paint & repairs in progress which will be completed. Please take into mind these photos are actually distorted by panning across the rooms, making the rooms look somewhat wonky and smaller than they actually are.
