Ossington Avenue

Location: it’s a 2-storey house across the street from Ossington station. Christie Pits park is a 5-minute walk away, along with Koreatown. Dufferin Mall is about 15 minutes away by foot or a 5-minute bike ride. There are multiple convenience stores, banks, a post office, a Shoppers Drugmart, laundromat, dry cleaners, and a library within a 2-7 minute walk.

The house: all roommates share the kitchen, the bathroom and the deck upstairs. Please note that there is no living room and the kitchen is not eat-in but the rooms are comfortable/big enough to sit in, and in the warmer months there’s also access to the deck and front porch.

The room: your room is about 12x8 feet. It is not huge, but you can easily fit a queen size bed, a desk and a dresser. There is a small built-in closet. The room has an east-facing into the backyard and the laneway, so you get the sunrise but no street noise from Ossington. It is on the 2nd floor of the house, same as the kitchen and bathroom, and next to one other bedroom. The bedroom comes unfurnished but the landlord could provide you with a desk, chair, cabinet and a bed on request.

In the kitchen we share appliances (fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, stove/oven) but every unit is responsible for their own cutlery/crockery/pots etc. We don’t share groceries either, but general household items such as hand soap, plastic wrap, sandwich bags, paper towels, TP are shared and generally stocked by us for convenience.

The rent includes all utilities as well as a bi-monthly cleaner.

Unfortunately, there is no laundry on premises but there is a highly-rated laundromat 5 minutes away.

Lease terms: long term preferred. It will be a one-year standard lease, and then month-to-month after. You will have your own rental agreement with our landlord and pay him directly. Move in date is officially February 1st but the unit is available anytime after January 21st.

Your roommates will be Jeremy (downstairs), and a couple - Daniel and Inga (upstairs, at the end of the hall). Jeremy works in finance, Daniel is getting a Master’s degree in education, and Inga is a flight attendant who’s gone half the time. We are all in our 30s, and enjoy being clean, quiet and mature. We don’t smoke, drink excessively, and don’t throw parties.

We keep the shared areas - kitchen and bathroom and the front hallway - clean and expect the same level of respect from our roommate. Our house rules are “don’t be petty”, “use your communication skills if you have an issue”, and “tidy up after yourself”. We are definitely looking for someone conscientious. If it’s full - empty it, if you finish it - replace it, if you make a mess - clean it, if it’s recyclable/compostable - put in in the appropriate bins, etc. If this sounds like it describes you too in terms of lifestyle, then we’ll probably get along.
