Description

*****I know it indicates “Toronto” as the area I am seeking, but the app wouldn’t allow me to specify “South Etobicoke”. Anything between Humber Bay and the Sherway Area, particularly in the Browns Line / Evans region, is ideal. I have lived in the latter area previously and LOVED the feel of the neighborhood - the people who lived in the area seemed to share my values for the most part, or at the very least were polite and friendly. I miss it sooooo much!

I have lived in the Mississauga / South Etobicoke area for ~ 7 years, and although friendly and sociable, I have always been quite content simply keeping to myself. I mean, I spent ~ 2 years cooped up inside during the Covid pandemic, and didn’t lose my mind! I’m an avid reader, so Kindle saved my sanity I’m sure lol. Oh - that reminds me - I am fully vaccinated, with vaccine passport in tow. But back to the basics…..

I am a homebody and almost exclusively avoid having visitors over, as I like my solitude within my private space. I am absolutely respectful of boundaries with regard to others’ personal space and belongings. In terms of shared space - I really don’t cook (shameful, I know…..). My use of the kitchen is essentially limited to heating pre-made meals, cleaning up after myself and repackaging leftovers in food saver containers (or just plain old Tupperware). I absolutely cannot go to bed with dirty dishes / counters or other parts of the kitchen not having been cleaned and disinfected, so don’t worry about that.

I do come complete with perks in the form of many fun kitchen gadgets (ex: T-fal air fryer that makes fries that taste deep fried, yet uses only a tiny little spoonful of oil; fry cutters that cut potatoes into fries in a split second; Cuisinart (sic) grill [George Foreman style but FAR superior]; Ninja food processor; Food Saver system complete with bags and containers; chef quality cooking knives; the best pots and pans on the market - something to do with a rock material lining and copper outer material…..I could go on re: all the cool kitchen appliances and gadgets I bring to the table so to speak, but you get the picture). All are free to be used by everyone in the house, so long as they are cleaned and put away once finished with them. If there is not room for these items, then I’m happy to leave them with a friend.

I am seeking a decent sized bedroom w/ ample storage space. Walk-in or large closet would be very helpful. An attached or otherwise private washroom would be a great bonus, but is not a necessity.

To other roommates, I will likely resemble a quiet ghost (albeit a friendly one lol). I am as easygoing as they come. I am clean, respectful and - since I don’t believe in false modesty - I happen to have a pretty awesome sense of humour….and a rather sparkling personality! Haha. Seriously, I’m a straightforward, honest and easy-to-like person, and I can honestly say with confidence that no one would regret living under a roof with me. I love all people, even those for whom others may feel less than deserving of love. However, I RESPECT, truly LIKE and ENJOY the company of those who are sufficiently evolved so as to share my personal dislike of any and all forms of discrimination….or other displays of ignorance that contribute to unnecessary hatred. I of course refer to the perplexingly illogical, pointlessly divisive hatred that we are collectively inundated with each day. That virus-like form of sickness that unfortunately seems to increasingly infect the minds of human beings worldwide. Humans who had previously appeared to be rational, capable of applying - and indeed regularly seeming to apply - reasonable critical thinking skills to assess information on a regular basis. This I believe is in all seriousness one of (if not the) most problematic of the various “viruses” (whether literally or figuratively speaking) infecting humans today, in my humble opinion.

In any event, I live by following a few simple principles, but rather than bore readers here I’ll just state the following two examples. My motto: live and let live. My overarching goal in life: to leave this world in a better state than that in which I found it (still trying to ascertain the most effective approach, with the farthest-reaching impact on humanity and Mother Earth, to take in fulfillment of that goal — but hey….all good things take time, I’m told).

Seriously though, I am a nice, good person - who just wants a safe, happy place with good vibes….and I hope to avoid having to leave my little cocoon as much as possible. I spend most of my time reading sci-fi novels when not working on my computer, waiting for a breakthrough in my writers’ block such that I might create the next literary masterpiece (here’s hoping lol). I consume documentaries and programming with a focus on nature or wildlife content the way most Canadians consume beer and hockey — I have a television and everything else that I need for the bedroom, and don’t keep the volume on very high. I’m a lover of subtitles, to the dismay of most people who watch films or shows with me. Also, nothing puts me to sleep like the soothing voice of David Attenborough lol.

Oh - and despite my little novella above, I do not preach or otherwise push my sociopolitical views upon anyone. I am are not religious, but vehemently support the right of every individual to worship whatever god(s) they wish, in the manner of their choosing (or to abstain from same). Finally, I’ll mention that payment of rent will never be an issue - that will quickly become clear to anyone who decides to take me in as a roomie.

Please consult my public FB page to get to know more about me and my many interests in social justice. Stephanie Leigh Werner (type “lawyer” and “Toronto” along with the name, and you should find me - profile pic shows me with pigtail braids, a black and white ball cap and fuchsia pants. Cover shot is a black and white image of my back, showing Buddhist style tattoos that I was fortunate enough to have the courage to get during my time as an ESL teacher in SE Asia. I am looking to stay at least 12 months, but hopefully longer. [**actually, I don’t know this site very well yet, but I believe that I’ve successfully my Facebook page to it - here’s hoping (I’m definitely no techie)]
