Description

Hello! My name is Mark and I am looking for a place to rent from August 15. Short term to long term. My budget is up to $1200 per month, but could go more for the right place.

I’m after a queer friendly place to live that’s not too far from UBC.

I’ve moved to Vancouver from Australia (Blue Mountains, near Sydney) to study for a master’s in library and archive studies at UBC, starting in the fall.

The move is part of a career change from casual academia. My background is in queer theory and history to do with prisons and colonial history in Australia; and I taught creative writing courses since I also write poems.

I can supply rental references and rental history and if needed, after meeting or to an agent.

Looking for nice people to live with who are respectful and caring. I like to meet new people and hope to make some new friends. Things like friendship and care seem to me to make share houses work best, so fingers crossed!

I’m 37 and I identify as queer and gay. I try to be as open as I can be to other people’s identities and experiences, and I think I do alright at that. I’ve lived in both big and small share houses since I was young, so I’m well trained to do things things like my share of housework, etc. Makes life easy for everyone.

Most days I like to get out and about, at least for some of it, and to have a place to come home to that feels comfortable and nice. I’m usually busy with research or study, work and writing stuff. I really like Vancouver.

Some things I like to do: explore different neighbourhoods, go hiking and camping, play board games, ride my bike around, eat good food and drink beer, watch TV, listen to the radio…

Happy to meet virtually first, but be good to meet in person.

I’ve written too much. Oh well, get in touch if you’d like to have a chat. Cheers!
