Hi, I’m Joshua and I’m looking for a change of scenery, to get out of a big city and be closer to nature, and to get into Yukon university for 2024, so I’m checking out alternatives in case student housing is unavailable. I’ve lived my whole life in and around Edmonton where I’m currently a student on disability, after kidney failure a year before COVID, 9 years into my career as a boilermaker following 3 years as a chef in highschool and college where I was studying linguistics, fluent in 4 languages and working on 2 more. My basement suite lease is up at the end of April as the landlord’s are putting their house on the market. I am passionate about music, art, philosophy and cooking. I am very clean and organized out of necessity and will need roommate(s) who are as well, however aside from that I am very laid-back, communicative, and easy going. My monthly income has allowed me to pay for rent+utilities here averaging 1100$/month, however I am able to begin looking for part-time work to increase available income as 1100$ all-inclusive is about as much as I can currently afford and also pay for food, phone, transit etc. I do not own a vehicle, (I do own 3 bicycles, one of which I am using to cannabalize to refurbish up the other two retro 80’s era road bikes) so either looking to rent a van to drive up with basic furnishings, or to find fully furnished and fly.

I would like to eventually adopt a dog, and acquire a small motorhome, or cheap SUV and trailer, so parking and pet considerations for the future. I have not been a cigarette smoker for 6 years, I do vape, and on special or ceremonial occasions enjoy a pipe tobacco around a fire. I do not use cannabis but am ok with roomies who do. If I am able to rent a van and bring suficcent equipment with me, I also brew my own cider and wine as a hobby along with tinkering with electronics/computer repair, golf/soft-ball/tennis/x-country skiing/curling/cycling, making music (I have an electronic drum-kit and hollowbody guitar) and singing karaokee (and a mic+a mixer to record with others), woodworking, gardening, and in general up-cycling, crafting/renoing, and creating with what’s at hand, so a workspace/shop or a noise tolerant home in general would be a plus. Due to a decade of shift-work switching, I am a afternoon-evening/early-morning chronotype, preferring around 11am to 2-4am as my natural rhythm, however this could (and has) change(d) subject to class and work schedules. I am generally a deep sleeper am not affected by others schedules, I just do not wish to wind up in a place where I feel like I have to walk on eggshells for half my day. I don’t own a TV, just a projector on which I like to game/watch movies or YouTube big style to chill during the long cold dark.
