Hello! My name is Melissa. I took my profile photo with my laptop camera in my bathroom in early 2024 so hopefully you can clearly see me. I am an old school flip phone kind of gal. I am originally from Toronto but I have been living in Northern Ontario/Manitoba off and on for almost 10 years because I worked on and off as an on-reserve elementary school teacher. I have lived and worked on 3 Ontario reserves and 1 Far North Saskatchewan reserve so if you have a hook-up for caribou meat (waaaay better than moose meat) I will love you for life! LOL! Long ago I thought that I would never enjoy living in the boreal forest, however, after a variety of experiences, here I am! I live a simple life - enjoy working, volunteering (when I have the time/energy) and sewing/crafting. I don’t smoke/vape or do any kind of recreational drugs and do not wish to live with people who do so. I also don’t drink alcohol and do not wish to live with continuously partying types of people (in other words people who binge drink at home with friends such that the home always smells like stale alcohol and looks a mess - ask me how I know - LOL!). Please do not lie about smoking/vaping/recreational drug use; I will find out and not be happy about it (ask me how I know!). Ideally, I prefer my home to be a peaceful sanctuary where one should be able to feel safe and at peace. This can be a challenge depending on who you live with (and their family and friends), your landlord and your neighbours. Again, ask me how I know! LOL! Over the years I have become more of a home body (not really my choice but this is just how my life has evolved). I LOVE furry animals, don’t have any of my own and will love on your pets (except maybe scaly types). I am an honest, quiet and clean person who is respectful of other people’s boundaries and spaces. For my overall health and wellness, I value my sleep (and other people’s basic need to sleep) so I won’t disturb your ZZZZZZZ’s and hope that you won’t disturb mine. Back in the day, I enjoyed making Toronto a fabulous arts destination through volunteering for theatre and film festivals (and theatres). I also participated as a volunteer mover in 3 community dance productions for the Dusk Dances, Luminato and Fall for Dance North festivals in Toronto. I aim to work with other people to resolve conflicts in an emotionally healthy way a la Psychology in Seattle (Dr. Kirk Honda) for those who watch his YouTube channel. I have a positive “cheerleader” personality type who is supportive of other people and their dreams/goals so if you are a negative Nelly / Eeyore type, I am not your gal. Hold onto your hats, I don’t drive/have a car and depend on public transportation, bicycles and my own two feet for travel! I love my Ontario Northland, GO Transit and TTC chariots! I am definitely a foodie and am an introverted extrovert so if you want to hang out sometimes I would be fine with that or not if you don’t want to hang out with me. In sum, I focus on a healthy-ish lifestyle, aim to be a positive contributing member of society/my community, seek to be the best version of myself and am supportive of other people.
