Howdy! My name is Ben, I am a 29-year-old Ph.D. student at UBC-Vancouver doing education research within the sciences. I am a queer and neurodivergent international student from the US who socializes by yapping about any and all kinds of topics and playing games (board, card, video, TTRPG, etc!): you could consider me to be a “chill hang out” kind of socializer. While I personally don’t use cannabis or regularly drink alcohol, I don’t mind living with folks who imbibe. I also currently have a Costco membership as well as a (small) vehicle which is helpful for grocery runs, and have a lot of driving experience (13 years). I do like to have some structure/responsibility for household chores and clear rules about shared spaces and foods, but once those rules and structures are in place I’m pretty good about following them. 🕷️ The one “sticky point” I have: I do have exotic pets (terrarium-living arachnids and mantises) that are non-negotiable for me, but have not had any escape incidents in my 10 years of keeping these kinds of animals.
