Writing about yourself is never easy. But if we’re going to share the same space, breathe the same air, and become part of each other’s everyday lives, I think it’s only fair that you know a little about who I am. So, here goes.

Hi! My name is Hess. I’m a web developer currently relocating to Canada and looking for a place to call home.

In my twenties, I loved traveling. I’ve visited more than 20 countries and even cycled across New Zealand’s North Island. These days, though, I enjoy slower things. I like spending time at home, reading books, and listening to podcasts about psychology and mental health.

I dream of having the strength and fitness of an athlete, but in reality, one mile of running is usually enough for me. I bought two skateboards because I wanted to learn, but they’re currently collecting dust. I can drive a manual car, although driving still makes me a little nervous.

You’ll probably find me wandering through a second-hand shop before a luxury store. I don’t always make my bed the moment I wake up, but I like keeping my living space clean and organized. I recently cut my long hair, so I promise there won’t be much hair clogging the shower drain anymore.

I’ve never smoked. I don’t drink much, but I do enjoy sharing a drink with good company once in a while. I’m not vegan, but I genuinely love vegetables. I enjoy trying new foods and don’t really have any limits when it comes to different cuisines or spices.

I like summers that are warm but not too hot, winters that are cold but not too harsh, and conversations with people who make me feel safe and comfortable.

If you’re curious about anything else, feel free to ask. I’m naturally an introvert, but these days I’m making a conscious effort to be a limited-time extrovert and say yes to new experiences.
