About the room
Spacious two-level, 2-bedroom, 1.5-bath condo in central Halifax, near Cogswell and Brunswick. It’s a very walkable location with easy access to downtown, the North End and West End, without being far into any one of them. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants, transit options and other amenities nearby — LF Bakery is an easy walk and a regular morning coffee stop for me.
The common areas are fully furnished and you’ll have full use of the living room, fully equipped kitchen, both bathrooms, in-suite laundry, balcony and some available storage. You’re welcome to use my cookware, dishes and other kitchen equipment as well.
The available bedroom is unfurnished, approximately 13’ × 11’, with a large window and closet. The two bedrooms are separated by the main bathroom, providing some extra privacy. Bike storage is no problem. There’s no dedicated parking, but street parking is often available in the area, subject to winter parking restrictions.
Rent is $1,050/month plus 50% of electricity and internet. Eastlink high-speed internet is $84.36/month total (currently a promo rate). Electricity includes electric heat and varies considerably by season — historically around $150 every two months in summer and up to around $700 every two months in winter.
I’m flexible on the length of the initial fixed term, and there’s no firm move-in date. Finding someone who’s a good fit for the household is more important to me than filling the room immediately.
Single occupancy only. Occasional overnight guests are fine, and one small, well-behaved cat or dog may be considered. No smoking inside.
About the roomies
You’d be sharing the condo with me, a mid-30s professional who works from home. I’m generally quiet and independent, a gamer, and not much of a partier, but I’m friendly and happy to socialize or hang out when we both feel like it. I occasionally have friends over, but it’s generally a pretty relaxed household.
I work from my laptop in the dining area during the day, but normal household noise doesn’t bother me and I use a headset for work. I’m sometimes up early to head to the gym, but I’m usually back around 8 before making breakfast and getting on with the day.
I’m pretty relaxed about cleanliness — I don’t expect a spotless home, just that we clean up after ourselves and both contribute to keeping the common areas reasonable. Groceries and meals would generally be separate, although I’m happy to share basics like milk, butter, cooking oil and spices.
I’m open to roommates of any gender, age or background; compatibility matters much more to me. Independence and respecting each other’s space are important, but I’d also like us to be comfortable actually talking and socializing occasionally rather than feeling like strangers sharing an address.
