The location is very close to #6 bus, approx 15 minute walk to Walkley LRT station, grocery, pharmacy and thrift options.
This is a split-level home between ground floor and basement. There are two living room/rec areas, one upstairs and one downstairs. Also a bathroom on each level. Laundry is downstairs. The main (eat-in) kitchen is upstairs and features a full oven a fridge, microwave, two tables and a beautiful skylight that offers great natural light throughout the day. Downstairs has a smaller kitchenette with fridge & microwave in the open-concept common area.
Fairly large green backyard with tool/storage shed, barbecue/s and room to garden or tend as you like. Roofed carport and driveway - parking space can probably be negotiated with the other tenants. (I don’t drive, so it was never a concern for me)

The landlord here is actively involved in the home, he likes to visit to play and design (board and card) games with his friends downstairs. He is very reasonable, easygoing and responds quickly to SMS requests for maintenance. You can be honest with him and he’ll be reasonably flexible with you, which is far too rare in a landlord.
3 men live here. One is usually found hanging out in the basement or frequently baking bread. He has a lot of controversial sociopolitical opinions and will frequently go off on passionate speeches about them if a related subject comes up.
The other two mostly keep to themselves, and one is often away for weeks at a time travelling for work, during which time the upstairs living room is almost always free, and he doesn’t mind letting others watch his gigantic TV and its subscriptions as long as they treat it with care.
Each is generous in their own way. Want to have guests over and reserve the kitchen or living room for your gathering? Just let them know and they’ll understand.
Housekeeping is on the lax side here and these folks don’t mind if you leave your dishes for a couple days, as long as you come around to doing your share, so if you’re looking for a chill, low-pressure environment, sometimes dramatic but safe, I’d say this is a good choice.
