Hi! I’m looking for two new housemates to share my home starting October 1.

It’s the main floor of a lovely older Vancouver character house near 12th & Fraser, with wood floors, stained glass windows, lots of natural light and all the slightly wonky charm that comes with an older home — plus some very welcome upgrades, including heated floors and double-pane windows.

There’s a shared living area, big eat-in kitchen, bathroom, front porch and backyard/garden. The common spaces are fully furnished, and both bedrooms can be partially furnished or unfurnished depending on what you need.

A little about me + the kind of home I’m hoping to create: I’m 35 and work freelance across creative, web/design and consulting projects, so I’m home a fair amount. I’m an artist and gardener, love cooking and music, and care a lot about making home feel warm, comfortable and lived-in.

I like a home where people actually know each other and can comfortably exist in the same space — chatting while making dinner, sitting outside, occasionally sharing food or a drink — but where nobody feels obligated to socialize. I’m pretty independent and value my quiet/down time too. Ideally, it feels easy to be together and easy to be alone.

The biggest things for me are cleanliness, respect, communication and ease. I’m not precious about the house looking perfect, but I do want shared spaces to stay pleasant and cared for — everyone cleans up after themselves, contributes to household cleaning and generally notices what needs doing without anyone having to manage anyone else.

I’d love to find people who see home similarly: somewhere peaceful and comfortable to land, where we’re considerate of each other, communicate normally about household stuff and enjoy sharing the space without living on top of one another.
