About the room

I’m subletting a room in my apartment at The Hudson, the former Hudson’s Bay department store at 770 Fisgard in downtown Victoria. The building has a Hudson crest at the entrance and a lobby with historic photos and a timeline of the building’s history.

The apartment is a loft with exposed concrete ceilings, dark hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows. The open living area has a sofa, a sage-green armchair, a navy tufted ottoman and a wall-mounted TV. The kitchen has espresso-coloured cabinetry, white counters, a wall oven, an induction cooktop, and a live-edge wood bar with counter stools under a geometric brass chandelier.

A glass door opens onto a balcony with a bistro table and two chairs, overlooking the building’s courtyard. The bedroom has frosted glass sliding doors, and there’s built-in storage in the hallway. The bathroom has white tile and a tub/shower.

The room is available from 1st October onwards.

The building has a rooftop patio with BBQs, Adirondack chairs and picnic-style tables, with views over downtown. The Victoria Public Market is on the ground floor. Chinatown, Fan Tan Alley, Market Square, Bastion Square and the Inner Harbour are all within walking distance. It’s a beautiful place.
