Once I have secured a relocation, am agreeable to sign a lease transfer to the next person or people to ensure they do not get hit with a massive increase in rent.
I am in a one bedroom unit and have a single parking space assigned to me. Hydro is not included in my utilities (heat and water is included). The building is pet inclusive (a good number of dogs, more often than not their humans are respectful of others. Especially those with big dogs, they try to not be bothersome).
There is an indoor pool and gym on site, they undergo maintenance roughly every four to six months for two to three days. It is not the worst but it tends to happen during peak holiday seasons, and they are not accessible at all hours.
There is a small store on site with decent hours and a good selection. The owners are very kind and friendly.
The building itself is not accessible. There are double doors, no power assist buttons. The elevators are regularly being worked on. There are six floors (this unit is on the second).
Laundry is in the basement. To wash and dry is roughly 6$ total.
There are currently no bug issues within my unit. There are German cockroaches within the building. They occasionally come up through the plumbing when it floods in the basement (heavy rain or water main breaks will cause this, we had one to the building this past spring). I am more than happy to provide the diatanatious earth I have been using to protect the apartment.
The majority of the neighbors are exceptionally kind and keep to themselves. Down the particular wing this unit is in is quiet (you can occasionally hear the three small children who moved in a few months ago, but it’s very rare and not particularly invasive). The only issue on this floor is a miserable old man and his small dog that barks and urinates in the hallways. If you avoid being near him or even looking at him you will be fine (seriously, just never even acknowledge his existence, go the other way, jump over a car to be away from him if you must. He is awful and thrives on being miserable. There’s another man just like him on the fourth floor who watches people from his balcony on the front of the building, other than the two of them the building is a perfect place!). There are many children around the buildings here, and there is a high school right across the street where lots of them play soccer in the afternoons and on the weekends (there is also a small park nearby with play equipment).
There are two very close bus stops to the front of the building, the 90 goes in both directions from them. It is maybe a 10 or 15 minute walk to the O train stop for Mooney’s Bay depending on the weather. It is an even shorter walk to the actual Mooney’s Bay park itself.
