Mid-century modern (1950s) share house in south Nanaimo, walking distance (30 min) to VIU or Hullo fast-ferry to Vancouver. Giant yard with lots of opportunity for someone who likes gardening, in a neighbourhood that is all about urban farming, salmon stream restoration and permaculture. You will make many friends if you like that!

Utilities are charged as a subsidized flat rate of $100/m or $200/m for couples. Furniture for the room is available, or unfurnished. The house has had many upgrades and is very eco-friendly. It is a well-maintained heritage house and not in disrepair. No drafts, good plumbing, hot showers, smart locks, good insulation, A/C etc.
