LARGE ROOM, BOUJEE BEACH HOUSE

An executive four-level townhouse directly across the street from Woodbine Beach, the largest of Toronto’s four beaches. This is the larger of two private rooms available for winter, November 1 to March 31, on a bright third-floor guest level shared with one other roommate.

You’ll have a brand-new queen mattress plus a sofa bed, two mirrored closets, a ceiling fan, a 50“ TV (with Firestick and numerous apps), and your own smart lock (fingerprint access will be set up). The floor also has a shared workstation with a 32-inch monitor, a fully renovated shared bathroom (touch faucet, motion-sensor lighting, bidet toilet), and a laundry closet, all steps from your door. Downstairs, you get full use of the main kitchen (with a dedicated fridge for you and the other roommate on the same floor), dining area, backyard, and front veranda, plus the fastest Internet package to work or stream from anywhere in the house.

This house has spent seven years earning Superhost status and over 200 five-star guest reviews for being spotless, beautifully kept, and genuinely comfortable. Every winter this room takes a break from short-term guests for one great roommate instead, so you get that same guest-favourite standard of living on a proper month-to-month lease.

The neighbourhood sells itself: two minutes to the boardwalk and the sand, minutes to the Queen Street strip for restaurants, pubs, and coffee, a TTC bus stop right across the street, the 501 Queen streetcar close by, and a Bike Share Toronto station nearby. Safe, friendly, and one of the most walkable pockets of the city.

My partner and I live in the house full-time with our very good, 4-year-old, well-behaved Lab and Retriever mix, so you’ll have real housemates who care about the place, not absentee landlords. We work a lot, and when we’re not working, we like exploring the city, fixing and tidying up around the house, cooking every so often, and yes, even enjoy shovelling snow. We’re easygoing, sociable when it makes sense, and respectful of everyone’s privacy, and we’re glad to provide superior landlord references at the end of tenancies that help our roommates secure their next place down the line.

We’ve hosted travellers from around the world here for seven years and bring that same Superhost-level care to roommates. We’d rather build a roommate-type relationship than a landlord/tenant one, and that works best when everyone respects cleanliness, quiet, and mutual consideration. A recipe that always proves great for lasting friendships.

There will be another new roommate joining as well, so a healthy work-life balance matters here, especially if you work from home. The third-floor bathroom is shared only between the two roommates on that floor, which was renovated to be extra sound-dampening for those who like late-night showers.

We’re looking for a working professional or student for the off-season: tidy, quiet, and respectful of shared space. This is single occupancy, and while we’d rather not host regular parties or events in a shared home, we’re open to small gatherings around the holidays, as we like to get festive with a Christmas tree or a full yard of Halloween decorations. It’s definitely not a fit if you have dog allergies or prefer a pet-free home.

First and last month’s rent, plus landlord references, are required to move in.
