Looking in: Sandy Hill Hurdman's Bridge, Ottawa, ON.
Description
Hello! I’m an incoming PhD student of English Literature at uOttawa looking for long-term housing in Sandy Hill, with a move-in date around July 1–August 30.
A little about me:
I’m non-binary + neurodivergent and live a very quiet, low-key lifestyle. I do academic work on queer/disability literature, and outside of that I enjoy poetry, arts & crafts, nature, activism, etc. I have many years of shared living experience with people from different backgrounds. I’m very respectful of common spaces, and value open communication. I’d also be happy to support roommates however I can.
Also, I don’t have any pets but would love if you do. I’ve worked as a cat foster for a long time and am very much an animal lover.
Housing preferences:
• Budget: around $700–1200/month
• Location: I don’t have a car, so hope to live very close to Uottawa main campus (within a 15-minute walk)
• Housing type: ideally low-rise apartments or houses
(I’m totally okay with tiny rooms, basements, attics, or larger households, especially if it helps keep costs lower.)
• Lease term: preferably long-term (1+ year), but also open to July/August 1–2 month sublets
Roommate preferences:
It’s important for me to live with people who are socially aware and respectful, and who have some lived experience or familiarity with marginalized communities and related issues. Usually I find myself getting along well with other students of art&humanities, scholars, teachers, artists, editors, non-profit workers, etc.
And since I’m pretty sensitive to noise, I probably wouldn’t be the best fit if the house often has large parties or loud music, but guests over or small friend gathering are very welcome, and I’ll likely have friends over from time to time too. As long as we vibe well, I’m open to either quiet coexistence or spending time together if our interests overlap.
Right now I’d prioritize joining an existing household, but I’d also be open to teaming up with others to house hunt together.
If you have a room and this sounds like a good fit — or know someone who does — feel free to comment or DM me. Any leads are appreciated!
