Description
I lived in a shared accommodation before in Toronto and hardly came out of my room. I can be social but I can also keep to myself. I don’t date and would rarely have visitors, if I ever did it would be one person. I’m easy to get along with and willing to compromise to keep the peace.
I do play guitar and bass but my homemade amplifier is only 1 watt (about as loud as a pocket transistor radio) and I’ll happily play while wearing headphones if requested.
I have a tiny dog but he’s the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet and very friendly. He’s not destructive but I do have a crate I can keep him in while at work if requested. He would much rather hang out with any possible roommates however, he loves everyone and will snuggle with you like a teddy bear. He’s not a yapper, he rarely barks, mostly at other dogs who bark at him first but he might lick you to death.
I was a smoker until recently, I’ve since switched to vaping and am in the process of reducing the nicotine content to zero so I can quit that too. I will happily vape only outdoors if requested. I do occasionally like to smoke a tobacco pipe but of course I would only do that outside too, typically I only do it while camping and sitting around the fire anyway.
I don’t drink other than the occasional beer with a meal or at most two sitting around a fire while camping. I haven’t been drunk in well over a decade.
I used to smoke marijuana daily but I just haven’t bothered at all lately. I still have some that has just been sitting there in a jar for ages. I might do it from time to time in the future, I’m not against the idea but I don’t feel any particular urge to get high anymore either. I would happily only do that outside as well if requested assuming I ever bother with it again at all.
I always pay my bills on time. I’ll starve before I let my rent be late.
I don’t drive, I’ve never driven, so I won’t require a parking space. I might want a place to store my folding bicycle. It has a bag it goes in when folded so it won’t make a mess and it doesn’t take up much space, I will probably just keep it in my room. I regularly brought it into my hotel rooms in its bag while bicycle touring Japan where I bought it and the staff never batted an eye.
I’m open to living with any age or gender, if you’re a good person who is easy to get along with that’s good enough for me. I’m fast becoming an old man but not a dirty old man so women are safe with me. Like I said above, I don’t even date anymore, I’m just not interested in it. You don’t go to job interviews if you aren’t looking for a job. Throughout my life my best friends have mostly been women so clearly they felt safe around me. I’m not homophobic, transphobic, racist or anything else along those lines, people are people in my eyes.
I’m looking for a place because I moved out of the house I was renting to go on an adventure for a couple of years on a sailboat with my dog. I had to sell the boat because the dog got very frightened while sailing. Turns out he doesn’t like being far from land and would whimper and shiver and I just couldn’t do that to him. He means far more to me than my dream of sailing does. My previous accommodations are unfortunately no longer available.
Furnished or unfurnished is fine, I donated all my furniture to charity when I moved onto the boat but I can always buy more if I need to. I can just as easily sleep on my air mattress I use for camping, I don’t need much.
I was living alone for the past 6 years in a 3 bedroom house I shared with my mother before she died and I think I might like some company again, that’s why I’m looking for roommates.
I’m currently between jobs having quit to go sailing but I do have the savings I was planning to live on while sailing for a couple of years plus the money from selling my boat and a small retirement income. I don’t expect it to take me long to find work, I have a lot of contacts with connections in my field from my previous job and everyone there was disappointed that I quit. Once they find out I’m looking for work they’ll be asking around and recommending me to people. It’s only been a short time since I decided to sell the boat, I haven’t even started looking for work yet because I have more than enough money to live on for a while. Unfortunately my old position was filled in my absence but I want something better anyway so I’m looking for something new and can afford to take my time. I don’t plan to be or want to be unemployed for long though, I like having something to do. No more than a month but I suspect it’ll turn out to be only a couple of weeks once my contacts get involved.
I do need accomodations ASAP however, I’m still living on the boat for the moment until the sale is finalized in the next couple of days but I’ll be staying with a friend after that and there really isn’t room for me there. I don’t want to be a burden for him.
