Narissa & Cedar

Me (Narissa) and Cedar are two queerdos looking for a third person to start a shared home by December 1st! Must love cats. What we are looking for in a home:

• Close to a skytrain station in Vancouver/Burnaby area
• Spacious 3 bedroom (for art, plants, cooking, etc.)
• A comfortable, safe space to unwind and show up as you are. Where you can ask for any accommodations you may need and know that you will be respected.
• Scent free and with reasonable quiet hours for neurodiverse sensitivities. But nothing crazy, we don’t like a home that is too quiet either.
• We love to have people over for crafts, board games, pot lucks, but also really like our own space. We like a home that has a nice level of activity and social dynamics, but definitely not looking to start a party house.
• Community oriented. Sharing of energy and resources at any level that is comfortable and beneficial to all members of the house.
• Flexible rotating chore schedule with clear expectations, so we can stay on top of keeping the place clean and comfortable and avoid miscommunications! Flexible is a must, due to fluctuating levels of capacity. We are both disabled to different degrees.
• Clear and direct communication. Monthly house meetings to check in and make sure everyone is feeling comfortable. We want to work on problems as a team when they arise and aim to create a safe space to discuss anything we may need to work on.
• Pet friendly. We both have cats we adore and are looking for someone who also likes cats!
• Non-smoking inside home or on property (asthma). Outside at a reasonable distance is fine.
• Some understanding/recognition of COVID/disease transfer and willingness to mask and sanitize in common spaces when sick or after a recent high risk exposure
• Max budget is $900/each ($2700 utilities not included), ideally less, there are a reasonable number of 3 bedrooms less than this
• East of Knight Street (preferably Victoria) or West of Cambie Street Bonus points and additional info:
• We’d love to find someone creative! Narissa is an artist and loves to collaborate and bounce ideas off other creatives.
• We are not clean freaks. A bit of clutter here and there is okay. Just as long as the place is clean and hygienic. Especially the kitchen since we love to cook!
• We’d love to find a place with a garden and a garage to be used as a shared craft space, and to grow food! Who we are: Narissa (they/she or all pronouns): White passing, mixed race. I am a 30 year old AuDHD queer artist. I currently work part time as a custom furniture maker. I love woodworking and metalworking, they are my main focuses at the moment. I have a million hobbies I bounce around, most of them art or dance focused. I am someone who loves getting to know new people and socializing, but also need a lot of alone time to care for my mental health. I love to read, and regularly go to therapy. Very self-growth and self-improvement focused. I take clear communication and conflict resolution seriously. You can trust me to navigate any conflicts with a high level of maturity. I have 2 lovely cats that I am obsessed with. Cedar (he/they): white, non-binary/transmasc AuDHD human with various chronic illnesses in mid-twenties. Currently on PWD but when working has worked with all types of creatures from seals to raccoons to sea cucumbers and also has taught kiddos on and off for over a decade now (wild). Passionate about anything alive, intersectionality, inclusion, and more recently getting into gaming and media analysis. Father to Halite. Cats! Keyser (he/him): Floofy diva, gorgeous boy. Very sweet. Shy at first but warms up to people over time. Glitch (he/him): Derpy tuxedo cat. Very shy. Super food oriented. Long boi, awkward and gangly. Halite (she/her): Extremely friendly to humans, vocally rude to other cats but will never get physically involved.
