At College and Bathurst we have one room for rent on the ground floor of a very old and dilapidated house. Nine foot ceilings, hardwood floors. The room is 130 square feet with a west-facing window that’s 2 feet wide, and 5 feet tall. Lock on the door. Street parking.

There’s a lot of space here. There’s a back yard, a front porch, one shared washroom, a kitchen, and a living room. We keep the place clean, but it’s over 100 years old, and it looks that way (it’s cheap for a reason).

With three people living here, the bills (gas, hydro and wifi) all together range from around $50/month each person in the summer to around $120 a month each person in the coldest part of winter. No laundry, but there’s two laundromats just around the corner within less than a five minute walk.

Here’s a long list of requirements for prospective housemates - you’re employed (or getting COVID benefits). You pay rent on time, every time. You pay bills on time. You don’t party at the house. Feel free to smoke on the front porch or in the back yard, but no smoking in the house, ever. No incense, no smudge, none of it. Not in your room with the window open, not when you’re drunk, never. That includes weed. Speaking of drugs, if you have any substance abuse issues, this isn’t the place for you. You clean up after yourself. You do your dishes the same day you use them. You contribute to cleaning the house once in a while. You replace the god damn sriracha.

No crazy people. No passive-aggressive people. No creeps. No hippies. NO IRISH (just kidding, but you’ll be starting on thin ice, pal). No incels or incel-adjacent types. Should go without saying, but no racist, sexist or homophobic horseshit. At the same time this isn’t twitter, so no pearl-clutching word-police with delicate sensibilities, either (the cat is fat-shamed without relent).

Just generally be nice. Or be really grumpy, who cares, but don’t be a dickhead.

We’re easy to get along with. You’ll be sharing the house with one female, one male, and a big dumb ginger cat. The cat is sweet and he loves people, but he’s also very loud and annoying, and he sheds like crazy no matter how often he’s brushed.
