About the room

Seeking a roommate for spacious 2-bed 2-bath apartment on beautiful, quiet, treed street in the Armdale area of Halifax. Move in as early as Sept 1st through October 1st (flexible).

Apartment features: • Rent is $925 + half utilities (approximately $140 / month per person): ○ Power is extra and includes heat and hot water. Previous tenants paid average about $200 / month with 3 people in the apartment, so I expect ours will be about the same or less. ○ Wifi is Purple Cow $60 + tax ○ Contents insurance - you can be added to my policy for very little (depends on the value of your things, but estimate is under $50 / year). ○ Half of any household items we decide to share (open to sharing professional cleaning services, perhaps some food staples, for example). • Parking not included ($30 for outdoor spot, which is always available. $40 for indoor spot, upon availability. Street parking also available for free, and I’m told there are always spots). • I am moving in this month, so in the process of settling in. • Main bathroom is yours • In-suite laundry, located in the main bathroom. • A fair amount of storage space inside the apartment, and in the parking garage. • Bike storage available in the underground parkade • Balcony • Dishwasher, Microwave • Furnished except for your bedroom & bathroom ○ I have access to a truck until the 2nd week of September if you need help getting furniture • Chocolate Lake Recreation Centre is very close by, and it’s a short walk to a walking trail along the water

About you: • Must be cat-friendly. I have 2 older cats, so looking for someone who is open to living with them, has no pets of their own. • I’m looking for a mature professional or student who is clean, tidy, respectful and a non-smoker. Building is not a non-smoking building, but may be deemed so in the near future. I occasionally have a puff before bed, but may have to do so off the property if they change the rules. • Open to discussing lease term, but prefer someone for 11 months fixed term (as I started my lease Aug 1st). • The building has “quiet hours” after 9pm on the weekdays and 10pm on the weekends, so I’m looking for someone quiet who doesn’t party or have guests over after these times. Most tenants in the building are older. • Looking for someone open to communicating about expectations upfront, and throughout our time living together, who likes to have a positive, drama-free living environment in which we respect each other and each other’s space. • On the pandemic front, I’d like to make sure we’re on a similar page wrt the pandemic measures, in case we go into a 4th wave (let’s hope not!).
