About the room

Our apartment building is in a quiet neighbourhood along the Line 2 subway, minutes away from Royal York Station. Features:

  • The room is furnished, with a single bed, a bookshelf and a desk. You will also have a closet and shared storage with the linen closet.
  • We have extra kitchen appliances we are willing to share: microwave and toaster oven.
  • The unit is in a non-smoking, walk-up building, on the top floor.
  • The building has one washer/dryer for use in the basement.
  • Cannabis —we love it but we prefer you not smoke it in the apartment, thank you!

IMPORTANT: This apartment is shared with two friendly dogs and two bunnies—unfortunately not allergy-friendly. We are looking for someone who wouldn’t mind having the company of animals and be open to babysitting them occasionally (with a little pay, of course).

About the roomies

Hello! We’re Rica and KL, a queer couple who are both working in the nonprofit sector.

We’ve been together for three years, and we’ve lived in our apartment for just over two years, with two lovely dogs Hesed and Reggie, as well as Honey and Butter, two bunnies. Just like many twenty-somethings in Toronto, we’re looking for a roommate to offset the cost of living in the city, and we hope to find that person here on Roomies.

As Filipina-Canadians, we’re both hospitable and warm people who love to welcome people to our home, so if you’re someone who likes to build intentional friendships with your roommates, we’d be happy to have you! KL loves to cook and is always willing to share meals with friends, so you’ll definitely have a good meal or two with us. While we like making new friends, we are not particularly big party people. Typically, we enjoy lowkey hangouts, like dinners or movie nights. Rica works in an office downtown, while KL works remotely, from home or from cafes and libraries around the city.

In terms of cleanliness habits, overall, we do our best to consistently keep common spaces clean and clear for others to use. Dishes get cleaned up at the beginning and the end of the day, but we keep the sink clear for use. Rica is neurodivergent, diagnosed with ADHD, which does mean occasionally, mess happens, but we do our best to keep it to our personal space and not let messiness stay in the commonly used areas for long (kitchen, bathroom and common room). And if there are ever any cleanliness or noise concerns, we are always willing to talk through and address them–we really value open communication with our roommate.

We are looking for someone who is queer-friendly, with previous roommate experience–someone openly communicative, quiet, considerate and warm. While we don’t expect our roommate to become besties with us, we would like to develop a good connection with whoever lives with us, someone who would have an occasional meal together. If you have experience living with someone who is neurodivergent and you are compassionate towards those who are neurodivergent, that would be a major asset.
