Roommate wanted for split-level townhouse. You’ll have your own entry/ground level with a bedroom, bathroom with shower, living room & kitchenette. Shared common areas include the full kitchen and laundry.

Your personal space includes:

• kitchenette area with microwave, kettle, Nespresso Pixie, baker’s rack, WonderOven (a non-toxic 6-in-1 oven/toaster). I can provide a bar fridge if needed, as I am not able to share my main fridge due to allergies
• small hall cubby storage

Green home environment rules (due to pet birds and I have sensitivities to most cleaners and synthetic products):

• extremely limited use of fragrances and scents permitted (scented natural products are a go, like essential oils)
• no harmful aerosol products
• no candles, incense, air fresheners, or diffusers (some specific bird safe products do exist)
• no Teflon (PTFE/PFOA) or non-stick type products (ie: cook only with cast iron, or stainless steel, or the WonderOven provided for toast/air frying)
• caution if getting new furniture, rugs, etc. if treated with certain products they are toxic to birds (fortunately the industry seems to be much more health aware in recent years and it’s much easier these days!)
• use only the safe cleaning products provided, unless otherwise discussed

I try to be as flexible as possible and there are many substitutes for most products that can be used safely.

• single occupant only
• pets are case-by-case (quiet pocket pets in enclosures are no problem, like reptiles, or non-free roaming cats kept strictly in your downstairs space)
• non-smoking / non-smoker only
• must not have allergies to dogs or birds
• my birds are soft singers, not parrots, so you won’t really hear them downstairs & my dog barks occasionally if he hears sounds, but he settles quickly
• month-to-month rental

I’m a clean, introverted and quiet work-from-home designer (federal government) living with my dog and my birds. I’m friendly and respectful but mostly keep to myself. I rarely have guests, and need a fairly quiet environment.

I play video games, read, draw, paint, do yoga and work out in my free time.

The living arrangement is such that you’ll primarily have the main floor and I’ll primarily have the top floor, with a cross-over for the kitchen so you can cook meals upstairs, and the laundry is downstairs. I’m often using the kitchen (I have food sensitivities so I make almost everything from scratch) and my senior dog is very wary of strangers. My preference is for someone who either doesn’t need the primary kitchen much, or can schedule it in order to meal plan at specific times.

There are bird-safe rules to follow regarding fragrances, use of aerosol-type products, no Teflon or non-stick products, and cleaning products that must be followed as to not harm my birds. I’m happy to provide what’s needed and review products you have if there’s any confusion.

Preference for a like-minded person - but anyone who will respect the house rules is welcome.
