Flatmate No-No’s:
- Dogs are unfortunately not allowed by the landlord, cats can be considered.
- 2 non-neogtiables - A clean kitchen and a clean bathroom. If we have guests over, these are the first spaces they’ll see, so keep em nice. A slight mess is acceptable, but don’t be a slob.
- No loud noises after 10 pm. No laundry after 10 pm (its loud)
- No couples.
- Preferably not a party person. I don’t mind hangouts and guests. I love to meet people. But not like 20 people drinking all night and blasting music.
- Over the age of 26 please. I’m looking for people in my age group.
Flatmate preferences:
- Clean and respectable about personal spaces. I’ll extend the same to you.
- Don’t hold stuff in. If somethings bothering you about the living situation, let’s talk about it and sort it out. I don’t take things personally.
- I’d like a person who’s a mix of independent and social. I’d love to hang out with you and talk to you and get to know you, but I also would like you to have your own life. We find a balance.
- Finances: We use Splitwise. We usually buy things as needed for the apartment and put it on the splitwise app. Please confirm with me before making a shared apartment purchase.
About the roomies
You’ll be sharing the apartment with me. I’ve been living with flatmates for the past 10 years (all genders), always a positive experience. My flatmates become my friends, I even attended my ex-roomies wedding a few years ago. I am very comfortable living in a shared space.
I’m a creature of habit, which is my best trait in a flatmate. Once you spend 2 weeks in my space, you’ll understand my routine. I am a morning person, usually up at 5:30 am. I’d prefer a night person, because conflicting schedules make for better living spaces. You can have the place to yourself at nights, and I get them in the mornings. We just have to make sure we don’t disturb each other.
My work is hybrid and I usually go to office 2 - 3 days a week. I leave for work between 9 - 9:30 and usually return by 8 pm - 9 pm
I prefer to be out and about. Life’s too short to be at home all day (but no judgement if you’re a homebody). I love movies, board games, and reading, to name a few. I’m a traveller, an author, an animal lover. I love creative activities and am always looking to learn.
I create safe spaces. This is your home too. So no judgement here, you should feel comfortable to be yourself. I will offer you respect and kindness, and I hope I can expect the same.
I’ve been a smoker, so smoking (cigs or thc) is fine. Just do it outside, we have a really cool smoking spot. Vaping is fine indoors. I’m supportive of your sexual preferences and mental health issues. I only ask that if these are important to you, we talk about how I can best accommodate you. Don’t assume that I’ll know your needs. I will support you, as long as you establish a good base with me.
Roommate selection:
- Landlord will require an income check and a past landlord reference
- First and last month rent required
- Security Deposit of one month rent required (this will be returned to you upon vacating the room with no damage)
I trust my gut. So if we meet and you love the place, but if my gut says no, then it’s a no even if you meet all the criteria. Don’t take it personally. I can sense when I’m around compatible energy, and that will really be what makes or breaks the deal. Any other questions, feel free to reach out and ask.
