About the room
✨ Hello! We are a queer couple in our early 30s (with a cat) looking for a short term roommate to share our sunny 5 ½ in Verdun (borough in the sud-ouest of Montreal) for $550/month (hydro & utilities included). Available Apr 1 or May 1. Queer or queer friendly roommates only!
🏘️ The apartment is on the 3rd floor of a century-old 6-plex (so unfortunately it isn’t accessible to those with limited mobility). There are two balconies. The washroom has a bath, a shower with good water pressure and a small washing machine, and the kitchen has a fridge, stove, and toaster oven. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed, desk and chair, and small shelf, and has a large closet and window with a nice view of the back-alley trees.
📍🗺️ The neighbourhood is great for walking and cycling; Verdun metro is less than 10 minutes’ walk away, the riverside is 5 minutes’ walk away, and Wellington street (many shops, pedestrianised in the summer) is right around the corner.
🚪 We’re looking for a roommate with no pets (small ones might be okay, as long as there’s no risk of Pants eating them) for the short term (2-8 months, flexible). Additionally, being reasonably tidy, respectful in communication, and mindful of others’ sensory issues (ie. loud or constant noise, bright lights, strong smells) are important qualities. We’ve both had positive roommate experiences in the past and hope to keep that streak going 🙂
🦇 Thanks for reading! If you’re interested please tell us a bit about yourself and your situation (ie. how long you’d like to stay, if you’re bringing any furniture with you, if you need any bedding or anything to facilitate your move in, questions etc.)
🇩🇪 P.S If you are a German-fluent speaker and are down to offer some tutoring, that would be cool! (We would pay per tutoring session or give a discount on rent - your choice)
Photos are from this past autumn.
About the roomies
ℹ️ I (Ali, they/them) work full-time, mostly from home, as a software developer, and my partner (Mary-Margaret, they/them) works part-time outside the house. We’re morning people with quiet habits and like to spend time outside, especially by the river. We speak english primarily, but both also speak French and some German.
🐈The cat, Pants, is short-haired, friendly, and well-behaved, and we keep his litterbox clean and discreetly hidden in a cabinet in the living room/ office space.
