The room will be available September 1st but I might be able to do October 1st too. It is for one person only, with no pets. It is located in the basement of the house where I live, in the neighborhood of Sunnyside, Calgary, Alberta. It is furnished and is quite large. It is very clean. The house is my workplace (I work from home), therefore the room is more suitable for someone who is not at home all day, and doesn’t cook a lot (no red meat and pork, but chicken and some fish are fine, and no strong spices such as curry). I am the only other person in the house, therefore the bathroom will be shared with me and it is conveniently located next to the back entrance door of the house and next to the basement stairs. The other shared areas are the kitchen and the laundry room. There is a small living room in the house but, unfortunately, it is not shared since it is my work place (mainly for teaching). However, the kitchen includes a nice, cozy sitting area facing a window. The house was built over 100 years old. It has its personality and a nice energy. It has a small front yard and a larger backyard. I have lived in the house for 20 years. It is located near the river and paths (just at the end of the street) and downtown is right on the other side of the river. Kensington is only 8 min. away walking. There you can find a supermarket, restaurants, bars, banks, bus stops and the Sunnyside train station (one station away from SAIT and ACAD, and four stations away from the University of Calgary). It is a very green and pleasant neighborhood.
I am originally from Southern Europe (France and Spain are my two countries) but I have been in Calgary for over 20 years. I work independently as a language tutor (French, Spanish and English) but I have a background in environmental science (Masters from the University of Calgary) and in environmental education (degree from the University of Quebec at Montreal). I develop projects in environmental education for schools in South America. I am a mature person, with a young spirit (I love working with children.), and with a certain amount of experience (I have lived and worked in different countries). I love nature, animals, different types of arts, music, sports (tennis, soccer), yoga, and reading. I keep the place clean and tidy. I like to eat healthy, therefore I cook most of my meals (chicken, some fish, quinoa, yam, vegetables, beans) and prepare them in advance for a few days. I don´t smoke. I have visitors rarely (I am too busy right now). I enjoy listening to some music but when I am alone in the house. I like my privacy, but I can have a conversation once in a while, depending on the situation.
