About the room
Hi everyone, I’m looking for a roommate to share a 1100 sq feet 2 bedroom 1 bath basement suite in Surrey (Clayton heights area, near Langley) for May 1st. It’s a quiet location within walking distance of the Clayton shopping centre and transit to both Surrey and Langley centre. Landlords are lovely and queer friendly, rent is $1000 per month, utilities and internet included. This is not a sublet, you will have your own rental contract with the landlords. The apartment has a dishwasher as well as an in-unit washer and drier. There is a small yard with space for gardening, an outdoor table and chairs, and small storage shed. There is also a free parking space and street parking for guests. Heads up that there are stairs to get to the front door and the apartment is not wheelchair accessible. No wall-mounted TVs, smoking, or dogs. Landlords are open to most other pets on a case-by-case basis (current roommate has a cat, fish and reptiles). Only other animal in the house currently is an elderly budgie. The bedroom will be unfurnished and most of the furniture in the common areas will be leaving with my current roommate. The apartment will be left with basics (couch, coffee table, table and chairs, etc) and there will be room for additional furniture if you have your own. There is a small storage closet if needed. I also have a well stocked kitchen with a decent selection of cookware and small appliances that you’re welcome to use.
About the roomies
About me: I’m a 31 year old trans man currently studying biology with the end goal of working as an entomologist. I’m interested in gardening, plants, nature, cooking and books. I’m quiet and enjoy having a peaceful space and would prefer to live with people who feel the same. I’m open to living with anyone but prefer the company of other queer people. I am happy to provide roommate references if needed. I am looking for a roommate who values a calm, respectful home environment. I want to be able to discuss problems and potential conflicts like adults. I don’t mind a bit of short-term mess as long as we can communicate, take responsibility, and keep our communal space clean when we can. I have no issues with roommates having guests over, however because of my schooling I am home and studying quite often, so I would prefer someone keeps gatherings small and/or low-key. I look forward to hearing from you! Please feel free to PM if you have other questions. 🙂
