About the room
Hey everyone! Full disclosure: I’m looking for a roommate to join me in the house I’m currently renting, but probably not until after summer sometime (so maybe September-ish). I know that’s a ways off, but I wanted to put some feelers out and take the time to find the right roommate fit. If you’re not needing a place asap and might be interested in that timeline, feel free to read ahead. I apologize in advance for the short novel!
Info about the place: It’s a 3-bedroom upper level of a house in Mission, so it’s nice and bright with a good amount of space (approx. 1,100 sq.ft.). Parking is available in front of the house. There’s a back balcony and private, fully-fenced backyard with deck (unfurnished). The place has a dishwasher and in-suite washer and dryer. There is 1 bathroom, which would be shared. I use one of the bedrooms as a “workout” room, which you would be welcome to use or add equipment to. Your room would be unfurnished, so you could furnish/decorate it however you like. The rest of the house is already completely furnished and you would have full access to everything – basically, I want to reiterate this would be a 50/50 roommate arrangement; I’m not just renting out a bedroom. The place would be just as much yours as it is mine! Finally, I have two medium-sized rescue dogs who are fairly high energy, so am looking for someone pet-friendly. Unfortunately, I’m already at the max allowed number of pets here, so can’t take on any more…but you would be welcome to hang out with my pups as much as you want! The people who rent the fully separate lower suite of the house are very nice and laidback (also no kids living down there), and the landlords are wonderful people. I can provide more pictures of the place once we’ve chatted.
The full rent here is $2300/m, so your half of rent would be $1,150/month. Damage deposit would be $575. Internet and access to streaming services will be included (no extra cost to you). We would split our portion of the BC Hydro bill for the house 50/50 every 2 months. The landlords also require that we have renter’s insurance here – I already have it set up, so you would just need to add your name to the policy (your half would be $22/month).
About the roomies
About me: I’m currently a full-time university student at UFV, and I also work part-time as a research assistant. I do both fully remotely, which means I’m home most of the time. I’m clean, respectful of other people’s space, reliable, a good/open communicator, and pretty chill, and it would be nice to find a roommate with similar qualities! I’m single and have no kids. I don’t really have any friends and family left in the area (they’re all long-distance now), so I basically never have anyone over here, if that’s something that’s appealing to you. In my spare time I read, watch movies/TV, play video games, and go for walks and play in the yard with my dogs. Overall, I live a pretty quiet, low-key life, and am hoping to find a roomie who’s compatible with that.
What I’m looking for in a roommate: I’m hoping to find someone who is clean, respectful, chill, friendly, stable, responsible, and a good communicator. I’m open to a male or female roommate, preferably between the ages of 30-45. Preferably someone looking for a more long-term living situation (not temporary housing). I’m also looking for someone who isn’t a super heavy drinker or drug user – first because that’s not an environment I’m comfortable living in, and second because the landlords were clear they didn’t want drug use or frequent parties happening on the property and I would like to continue respecting their wishes on that.
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text! I’d just like to make sure BOTH of us will be happy living together, so wanted to provide as much detail as I could up front. If you think we might be a good roomie fit or have any further questions, please feel free to give me a shout! :)
