Shes, theys and gays —come share a cozy, colourful Arts and Crafts single-story home with a cheerful queer disabled artist/educator, two dogs, one cat, and many houseplants. The rental suite is 230 sq ft and includes a fully furnished bedroom with an adjoining home office/study. Outfitted with its own private entrance off the back deck of the house and complete with a small bistro set, providing privacy and a lovely spot to drink coffee in the morning.

The bedroom is furnished with a comfortable twin bed (linens provided) and 40” flatscreen TV with Apple TV (Crave login included). There’s ample storage available, including a large closet space (a miracle for a 100-year old home), a tallboy dresser, and an armoire. The study comes equipped with two bookshelves, a desk, filing cabinet, storage trunk, and a cozy armchair. There is some additional storage available in the basement and garage if needed. The bathroom, dining room, laundry room, and kitchen are shared spaces to be enjoyed and cared for by all.

The property has an enclosed front and back yard with lush garden beds. There is a raised box for vegetable gardening and some garden space available for those with green thumbs, or a general desire to learn from the land.

Conveniently located in the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood, you are within walking distance of several bus stops, the Kingsway LRT station, and a french patisserie with the best croissants. The street is part of the downtown cycling route for an easy bipedal commute, and street parking is available as well.

The community is a diverse, mature neighbourhood lined with shady elms, old school charm, and caring, engaged community members. I’ve lived in my home for 12 years, it would be a privilege and a joy to share space and community with another like-minded chill human! Interested individuals must be okay with animals. Your rent includes utilities and internet.

Washer/Dryer in basement. No microwave (RIP 🙏🏻). Fire-pit, patio set, bench swing, and BBQ available for use.

Accessibility Notes: The house is a single-story bungalow with four stairs to both the front or back door. The rental suite is located on the main floor with the laundry in the basement.

I am an artist and educator, teaching sessionally during the academic school year and maintaining an artistic research practice within my home year-round. This means I am working from home in my studio, located in the basement, more often than not. I’m a morning person that loves to start my day with gentleness and care. I like to keep my home clean, organized, and full of character. I do like to host a few friends for dinner and boardgames every once in a while (typically once or twice a month). In the summer, you can find me in my garden, spending time with our non-human neighbours.

The home is shared with my two dogs, Oscar and Krispy, and cat, Alfie. They are all loveable good boys that are here for treats and all the pets (the best perk of the house IMHO).

I’m hoping to share this space with a clean, chill individual that has similar values regarding community and care. I would prefer a roommate that doesn’t work from home full-time or night shifts as that may be disruptive to one another’s work practices and/or sleep schedules.
