About the room
The property for rent is a single private bedroom in a 2 bedroom unit in an apartment building, along with full use of the shared living room, kitchen and bathroom. The bedroom is unfurnished but there is some furniture in the common areas (a couch, TV, recliner, and bookcase in the living room, as well as a bookcase that can be kept in the bedroom or moved to the living room at your preference). There’s also a small portable A/C unit for the summer, though the unit mostly stays reasonably cool (the only exterior wall faces north, so there’s not a lot of direct sunlight). There’s also a small patio and a common yard area.
The location is directly on the 10, 15, and 27 bus routes, and is withing walking distance of a grocery store and Wal-Mart, as well as several smaller businesses and restaurants.
I currently cover the cost of renters’ insurance and the Internet connection, while my roommate covers the electric bill. I’m fine with either continuing that arrangement with a new roommate, or totalling the cost of all utilities and splitting them 50/50, whichever is preferable.
The property management company will require both ID and proof of income sufficient to cover the rent in order to allow someone to sign a lease.
About the roomies
I’m a 42 year old single man looking for a roommate to help split the costs on my unit. My current roommate is leaving as of September (on good terms, he simply had an opportunity to move into a nice place owned by a family member) and I’m looking for someone to take over his side of the lease. I’m a fairly quiet person, and generally keep to myself- the most noise I make in an average week is the D&D game I remotely host. I have pretty basic expectations of a roommate- as long as you’re paying your share of the rent and utilities, not causing noise complaints, and helping in keeping the apartment reasonably clean, we won’t have any issue.
