About the room
Peaceful second floor room with a full size closet and locking doorknob, located in a quiet home, on a safe street in an older part of town within 900 m of Lake Ontario. The space is furnished but could potentially be unfurnished if desired. We are located in a tranquil suburban neighbourhood with decent access to bicycle infrastructure, 15 minutes walk to the nearest grocery store and about 25 minutes walk to Appleby GO.
The full washroom on the second floor is reserved primarily for the room occupant. Rent also includes shared use of the kitchen, dining room, living room, front and back yard, WiFi, Netflix, one dedicated off-street parking spot, and two loads of laundry per week. Minors may be on site. No overnight guests without prior discussion.
About the roomies
Iβm a healthcare worker, writer and single mother with shared custody of teenage boys. The household consists of: me all the time, my sons most weekends and school holidays, and sometimes we may host their small dog. We all speak English and French, and I speak some Cantonese.
We are a friendly, multicultural household that values wholistic health, environmental sustainability and diversity. I am a shiftworker at a long term care home meaning that I may be moving about or sleeping at odd times of the day or night.
The house is a 1960s build with original wood floors, creaky stairs and noise-conducting ductwork, meaning this space is suitable for someone who is self-aware of their own noise generation, maintains a normal schedule and is also tolerant of sometimes unavoidable ambient noise. While we strive to be an inclusive space, unfortunately, there is no ability to house the elephantine, the 3 a.m. chefs, a 24-hour shut-in, nor anyone who needs to conduct intercontinental video conferencing at 4 a.m. local time.
I love art, music, cycling, cooking, eating, and travelling. There is space in our shed to store one bicycle if you like to cycle too.
