About the room
Pictures to come! I am currently renting a 2 bedroom + den apartment, which takes up the entire main floor of a quiet triplex. It is super spacious and bright, with good-sized bedrooms and a large kitchen with plenty of cupboards and a dishwasher. Large living/dining area as well as a separate den that can be used as office space if you are a hybrid worker. Rent for the room is $875, plus hydro, gas, and internet. Water is included.
Internet: $65 Gas and hydro fluctuate, with gas being a bit higher in the winter due to the heating (my January bill was around $60), and hydro being a bit higher in the winter due to air conditioning. In total, your monthly rent with utilities should be around $1000. We do have one long driveway to share, but we would have to park behind one another, which can be a pain in the winter when we can’t always park on the street. I would prefer someone without a car, but if you do have one and you are a good fit, we can figure something out. Parking would be included in the rent. The apartment is a 3-minute walk to the NCC trail, which is awesome if you also cycle in the summer!
I am looking to start sharing with another mature female (or very very specific males), but I’m really looking for the perfect match that will help us live in harmonious roommatehood with similar goals… see my about for more details :)
About the roomies
I am looking for someone mature and serious, so please take the time to read this in its entirety before messaging.
I am hoping to find someone who is also unexpectedly single in their 30s and realizes that this economy is not built for single income households. Although I am currently paying the full rent and can still eat, I am also aware that it is an exorbitant amount and I’ll likely never save up enough for a down payment on a house when so much of my income goes to the bare basics.
Living with roommates can suck, and does take away quite a bit of your privacy. But it would be awesome to find someone who also knows this, and is willing to sit down with someone in a similar situation and hammer out a way to happily cohabitate and thus be able to save some money to actually buy a modest home in this lifetime. Think “the roommate agreement” from Big Bang Theory but waaaaay less anal-retentive.
About me: Mid-30s, a little crass, a little introverted, and figuring life out while the world burns around me. I work a sporadic work schedule and try to maintain a healthy lifestyle, so I come and go at all (reasonable) hours. Some days I just wanna couch-potato the day away, some days I wanna go out and do anything everything. Some days I will sit and have dinner with you while we chat about our days, some days I will be in my room needing some alone time.
About you: You are hopefully also a mature female, and are also fantasizing about the ideal roommate situation that would help alleviate the massive financial burden that the cost of living has become. I would really prefer not to have any more animals in the apartment, but would consider very very specific feline situations. Absolutely NO dogs, I don’t care how well-behaved you say he is. I love dogs, I just don’t want to live with one.
I would only consider a (mature) male roommate ONLY IF it is a part-time arrangement, i.e. you live in another city but you need somewhere to stay for a couple of days a week. If this is the case, we can discuss the reduced rent in proportion to the number of days you’d be staying at the apartment.
Please do NOT respond if you smoke, drink heavily, are unclean, collect ODSP/OW, work full-time remotely, or have a bad rental history. You will have to go through approval with the landlord so everything in that regard will be checked. Income will be verified as well.
Open to different lengths of time, and the room can be furnished or unfurnished.
