About the room
✨ Hello! We are three friends in our early 30s looking for a queer-friendly roommate to share our sunny 5 ½ in St-Henri for $370/month (plus hydro & utilities, which are $25-$50/month) for the medium or long term. The room is available April 1st, but we’re flexible about move-in dates.
🏘️ The apartment is on the 3rd floor of a century-old 3-plex with interior stairs (so unfortunately it isn’t accessible to those with limited mobility). There’s no balcony, but there is a fire escape accessible from one of the bedrooms. We have a little container garden set up and you’ll be welcome to hang out there when we’re home (and help with the gardening if you like!). The washroom has a bath, a shower with good water pressure and a washing machine and dryer, and the kitchen has a big fridge, stove, microwave and toaster oven. The vacant bedroom is large and has double doors which open to the living room. It’s unfurnished and faces the metro station across the street, so it can be a little noisy, especially in the evenings.
📍🗺️ The neighbourhood is great for walking and cycling; Lionel-Groulx (orange & green line) metro and the REV bike path are at our door, the Atwater market and canal are 15 minutes’ walk away, and just about any kind of shop you want can be found within that radius.
🚪 We’re looking for a single roommate who is over 18 years old with no pets. Being reasonably tidy, friendly and respectful in communication, and mindful of others’ sensory issues (ie. loud or constant noise, bright lights, strong smells) are important qualities. We like occasionally having a housemate meal together, or going out for an impromptu walk or picnic, but mostly we all do our own thing. We’ve had positive roommate experiences so far and hope to keep that streak going 🙂
About the roomies
🦖I (Li, they/them) currently work full-time and mostly from home as a software developer, but I will be taking the summer off to travel and volunteer in the city. In the fall I’ll be returning to university to study ecology. I enjoy cycling, learning about paleontology and green urbanism, and drinking bubble tea.
🦆 My partner (Rowan, they/them) works as a cook at a cooperative-run cafe, but will also have the summer off. They’ll be busy hiking, foraging, and volunteering in gardens and on farms, though, and in the fall they’ll be back at work and studying. They love the music of the late middle ages, zen buddhism, and a lovely rice bowl.
🍄 We’re morning people who go to bed silly early. We’re also vegan and try to live a low-consumption, low-waste lifestyle. We don’t expect roommates to share these habits, but just being respectful and mindful of them is important and appreciated.
🐺 Our friend Roger (he/him) works full-time in a lab. He likes trying new tiktok recipes, enjoys coffee dates with friends, and probably has every pokemon in Pokemon Go. He and Rowan have been friends since middle school!
