About the room
Hey hey 👋 Starting my search for a roommate come September to rent out a room within a beautiful character home located in central Calgary, minutes away from downtown. Walking distance to saddledome/stampede grounds, shops on Inglewood’s trendy 9th Ave, bus stops and more. The very trendy/sought after neighborhood is truly the draw to the place along with the living room in a loft with skylights, a backyard with a fire pit and ample indoor/outdoor storage.
The available room is cozy (can fit a queen bed), large closet and private half bath that features a large wall mirror and lots of natural light as it’s east facing. However, instead of renting out “just a room” I’d say it’s more us splitting the house as a whole as utilities are not included in the listed price, aside from internet (see Wishlist below lol). I’d say your portion of rent as a whole averages around $1,250-1,350/per month/all-in. (The room can be furnished for an additional cost.)
You’ll also get half of the area in the basement to use for whatever you wish. In the past, people have used it for their home office, a studio, a gaming area and/or storage. Completely up to you.
The rest of the house is furnished with mid-century modern/ western knickknacks. Loft is the living room/ guest bed area (though this may be changing soon). Main floor features my bedroom at the front, sitting area/“living room” #2, main bath, large kitchen island for dining, your room, kitchen, door to back deck/yard, stairs to basement. Then the basement has your space, my space, mutual storage room at the back, small home gym and laundry.
Pet friendly within guidelines… being a responsible pet owner is paramount and nothing less will be tolerated. My old girl is 13 and very aloof, rarely barks and would expect the same along with your pet having to get along with mine via park visit leading up to agreement.
Start a convo and I’ll share more details+pics if I think we’d be a great fit 😊
About the roomies
Early 30s marketing professional who loves cozy nights in but also likes to keep a busy schedule with nights out and the odd theme party at home. I also travel a decent bit for work, so during the week at times, you’re alone! I’d say I’m pretty laidback but am learning to speak up for my needs. In that… I’ve found weekly/monthly agreed upon chores are a must to keep a good vibe in the house along with mutual respect for each other’s things and an agreement to keep the common areas tidy. I value clear communication and hope for the same back. Wishlist? -Building a friendship with someone but also values time apart
-Fair mentality when/if splitting house items / common groceries etc.
-Someone who turns off lights
-Someone who vocalizes their needs
-Someone who takes pride in their home both on the inside and out
