About the room
I have a room (potentially partially furnished, if you do not have a bed, and need to buy one, my former housemate is selling hers, and a few other things), in the West End of Vancouver. It is close to transit and walking distance to Davie and Robson, and the beaches. It’s on an easy commute route, if you need to commute to school or out of the downtown core for work. It is bright, fully furnished (in the living area, and kitchen), and you have access to all kitchen tools/equipment and are welcome to have friends over etc for dinner and small social gatherings. Your room has a small balcony off the bedroom, and there are two balconies off the living area. Internet and hydro are included in your rent. You also have your own, full bathroom with bathtub and shower.
There is a cat already living in the apartment, and they only permit one pet per unit, so no new animals can be added, but you should be comfortable around cats, and not allergic.
The West End Farmers’ Market is just around the corner and starts in May, and if you are here only temporarily for a few months, this is a great spot during the summer to use as a base for other adventures in the Vancouver area.
About the roomies
I work full time as a Director of Food Science/Innovation, and split my time between working from my lab and home. I have friends over a few times a month, rarely have gatherings of more than 5 people, and believe in basic reasonableness. If you use the dishwasher detergent up, replace it, do your share of taking the recycling and waste down to the waste room without asking, and generally keep things tidy and clean, and all is good with me.
All of my spices, cooking oils, condiments etc are available for you to use, and unless I specify something as off limits, you can use it. I do not, however, help myself to other people’s things unless invited.
I have had an amazing housemate for the past two years and am excited for her that she has been accepted to veterinarian school and gets to move forward in her career, something she has been working very hard toward.
