Hello!

My name is Jessica Hoskins and I am interested in renting a room as early as November 18th if it is available through to March 2024. I just recently accepted a Research Technician position at UBC where I will be assisting post-docs, graduate students and other technicians in a study in salmon physiology. It is a full time position. I have a zoom meeting with UBC fellows this Wednesday November 9th where I will find out specifics like work schedule etc

I am a 40 year old female who is very conscientious and respectful. I will do my fair share of weekly cleaning and I will respect all boundaries and personal belongings. I communicate well and openly. I really am quite easy going! I do not smoke or vape anything. I do enjoy the occasional glass of wine but I literally NEVER party. I am somewhat of an introvert as I need to recharge from work. In general, I like to cook, read, meditate, paint (watercolour & acrylics) and go for urban strolls and nature walks. I got my 4th covid dose on Oct 28th.

I have a 5 gallon tank with 1 male betta fish and a fern plant that I hope to bring. Is this OK?

I also have a car, is parking available?

I should also mention that my main residence is in Victoria, it is a house that I share with my hubby and his 11 year old son. I have been in this relationship for over 8 years and he has always been very supportive of my hopes and dreams including this new gig at UBC. Being away has never been a big deal for us; he was in active military service when we first met and I previously worked as an Assistant Manager at a salmon farm in Tofino which was a camp-based position where I was away every second week. My hubby does plan to come visit once a month if that is OK (his son with NOT be with him), and I will probably be doing trips back to Victoria as well. I will be returning to my home in Victoria at the end of this UBC contract in March 2024.
