I’m a 63 year old woman, that raised a severely developmentally disabled child for 29 years before she got a placement in a full care facility/treatment home. We were on the list for decades. I waited 12 years for a subsidized rent geared to income home which I finally got 3 years ago. Because my daughter is in a a group home now, I will no longer qualify for rent gear to income… Housing is increasing my rent as of November 1 to market value which is substantially higher than what I bring home in Canada Pension, consequently, after Nov 1 I will not longer be able to pay the rent that they want. At this point I do not know what to do but I know that at 63 years old, I will not do well sleeping in my car.
