Hello, I’ve rented a room in a house with roommates several times in different houses in Vancouver over the past ten years and it’s my preferred mode of living (now making a move to the east coast). For me it’s the perfect balance between social, somewhat communal living and privacy & independence. And I’ve had good success in maintaining and enjoyed that balance in the shared houses I’ve lived, contributing to the overall benefit of the house collective with cooking, cleaning, socializing, etc and having my own space to retire to.
