Fern

Hi im fern (they/it), im a student at college for art and design and im also learning writing and music production on the side. Im currently facing homelessness as a result of getting kicked out of my current (abusive) living situation on the 1st of october. I am physically disabled and largely dependent on mobility aids to get around, which has greatly impacted my ability to find a place to live as all options ive looked into were either too expensive or very inaccessible. College residence is no longer an option until the winter term starts in january and i have no family or friends who can take me in. Places outside Hamilton arent available to me as I need to attend school and pass all of my courses this term for financial reasons. I have looked into shelters as well but they are either full, inaccessible or carry major safety risks that make it effectively no different from fully being on the street. I would not survive if i were to be placed in that situation. I am currently waiting to be approved for odsp still as my disabilities have only recently worsened to this point and cant work until i have my wheelchair funded, which will require me to move out to be approved for ow. I do however have some money still saved that i can use to cover rent for the time being. The issue is just finding options to be able to live until i can get everything in order again.
