My kitten Goose and I are looking for another roommate to take over the lease for my current housemate (sublet until September and then month to month onwards). Move in date would be March 1st. First AND last required.

The unit is shared, but you’d have your own room, which is $945 but I’m willing to slightly negotiate that price. The rest of the house is shared. I’m quite an extrovert so I like to host every now and then but I will communicate that. With that said, you’re free to host as well!

About the place:

It’s a main level house in the Stipley Neighborhood. We have upstairs and downstairs neighbours that I know and they’re both families. The landlord is nice and is on top of stuff. Notable places around include a coffee shop, bar, laundromat (we do have free access to a washer/dryer), tattoo studio, barbershop, rec centre, restaurants.

Pets- Goose is a 7 month old kitten. He’s lived with a cat since I got him and I know he’ll be depressed without her. If you have a cat who is good with a kitten, he’d love a friend! He is fixed, up to date on all his shots and I take him to the vet when necessary. Your pet MUST be good with Goose. He’s never been around a dog but he is great with cats who are good with him- or tolerate him. Your pet must be fixed. I don’t do well in a house with animals that spray.

Utilities- they’re not included BUT they are the same price each month. Comes to nearly $100 for everything (heat, hydro, water and internet)

Furnishings- The room itself is not furnished but the living room is mostly furnished. I am looking to get a couch but if you come with one, I won’t bother buying one. There is a shared TV with multiple streaming services that I am willing to share.

Parking- we get one parking spot, but as I don’t drive, you are free to use it. I don’t plan on getting a car anytime soon and get around on my own just fine

Bus routes- this house is along a few bus routes. The King and Cannon are the common busses I ride

Background check- Unfortunately there is a background check that comes along with this unit, as per my landlords request. That will include a credit check, and some other stuff that I will confirm with her

Extras- we have a built in microwave and dishwasher. You’d get one side of the fridge/freezer and a lot of pantry space for food and dishes. We have plenty of counter space as well. Laundry is on site. The only downfall is that it’s at the front of the house so we typically have to go outside to get to the laundry. There is a big porch that is ours, for your smoking pleasure. I personally don’t smoke but will use it in summer months to hang out.

I am a recent Mohawk Alumni from the SSW program, and currently in a new program. I work twice a week and am in school/placement 4 other days of the week. I am typically home in the evenings and Sundays. I am trans masc (He/Him) and run community queer events. I’m a big time crafter and am usually sat at my sewing machine making a quilt and watching the same show over and over.

I am a neurodivergent person who needs clear communication. I am VERY therapized so I think communication is essential, boundaries need to be respected on both sides and compromises need to be had. I work really well with people who can relate or understand my needs. I love a good housemate meeting too.

I want someone who is independent but is open to making connections and willing to hang out sometimes. Would love someone who loves artsy/craftsy stuff like me but not a requirement. Must be good with cat(s) as I have Goose and will likely be getting Goose a friend if you don’t come with a pet, or have plans to get one. He’s going to be lonely without his friend.
